Mary R. Martinez, 86, of Canon City passed away July 18, 2018 surrounded by her large, loving family. She was born November 9, 1931 in Coaldale, Colorado to Gus and Jennie Medina.
Mary married Freddie Martinez on November 27, 1952. She worked for many years at the Ramada and Quality Inn as a housekeeper.
In her spare time, she loved to play card with family, take trips to Cripple Creek, travel, and go camping.
She is survived by her sons, Fred, Victor (Janet), Joe, Ernie (Donna), Bea (Jim Gindro) Cash, Cinda (Don) Atencio, Nancy (Kory) Barth; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Medina, Theresa Whitney, Betty Martinez; brothers-in-law, Rueben (Rafaelita), Johnny, Joe(Carol), and Abel Martinez along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie; parents; her sisters, Della, Benita, Priscilla, Ernestine; brothers, Lawrence and Johnny Medina; grandson, Anothony Martinez; and great grand-daughter Riley DiLaura.
Viewing 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 22, followed by a rosary at 6:00 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, at St. Michael Catholic Church followed by a reception at the Florence Elks Club.
