Obituary for Wayne C Brite

Wayne C. Brite, age 87, passed away on December 7, 2018
Born on May 29, 1931 in Rockport, Texas, Wayne would go on to live an adventurous and fulfilling life.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Wayne married Delphine Verhaeren on February 7, 1953 in Vista, California. While later living in Oceanside, California he was hired as a full time fireman where he worked many years’ eventually becoming captain and assistant fire marshal. Wayne also pursued a higher education receiving an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science from Mira Costa College and would also study arson investigations as well as bomb scene and explosives handling from training he took at Camp Pendleton. In addition to Mira Costa, he also studied at Palomar College and the University of California extension at Riverside. Wayne was trained to carry firearms and would also investigate criminal bomb making. He attended Palomar College, Mira Costa College and the University of California extension at Riverside and building code instruction at the University of Nebraska for a special conference.
Wayne, a Jack of all trades, was an accomplished block mason, roofer, landscaper, and artist. He also built beautiful furniture for relatives and friends.
Before he passed away Wayne fulfilled his dream of taking his wife Delphine on a cruise and a trip to Alaska.
He leaves behind his wife Delphine, his beloved dog Pepper and very good friend Tina.
A heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and all from St. Thomas More Hospital for all the love, caring and hugs everyone expressed. A big thank you to Sangre De Cristo Hospice for their caring and love as well as a thank you to Holt Family Funeral Home.
No services are planned as per Wayne’s request. Cremation has taken place.
